The power of beauty

Emma, our rescued, flight-challenged monarch

Moments after I lovingly placed this rescued monarch on a flower injected with sugar water, I closed the door on its habitat (our bathroom) and grabbed a rolled-up newspaper and whacked to death a moth flapping around near the hallway light fixture.

    • Meleah: I really felt awful for a moment, being so unfair, but you do not want moths reproducing in your house. We had some get into our pantry and the larvae were everywhere. Ugh.

      • Suniverse: This butterfly is so tame! She lands on our shirts, our fingers, and lets us study her for as long as we wish. Great photo opps.
